Building Renovation
The National Press Building contains three ostensibly irreconcilable components:

The National Press Club

Multiple international press organizations

A retail mall (Filene's Basement at the time).

The design focused on renovating the multiple entries from F Street and 14th Street and create thresholds that would cater to the three components housed in the building. Great attention was given to lighting and materials in conjunction with specific geometries that created gateways and thresholds to various program nodes. Media components were integrated into the design along with a careful orchestration of public and private circulation with security being a critical concern.
