Adaptive Reuse
Renovation of an existing structure previously used as a bowling facility. The adaptive reuse project aimed at repositioning the building into the thriving downtown district of Silver Spring Maryland.
The new program was to accommodate a possible fitness center or an anchor retail tenant.
The four architectural solutions presented to the developer were generated in under 5 days. The design challenge was to reconcile the change in grade along the front street and create an anchor element at the corner of the site acting as a focal point to an upcoming pedestrian streetscape.
